Giselle_Peters.jpg

My name is Giselle Peters and I am a Canadian artist originally from Saskatchewan, Canada. I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics from the Alberta College of Art and Design and a Bachelor of Psychology from Concordia University.

I worked for several years in the field of brain injury and developmental disabilities before returning to focus on my visual art career.  I was previously based in Alberta, Canada, but now reside in Zaragoza, Spain.

I work in a variety of media, primarily ceramic and painting.  My sculpture focuses on contemporary issues expressed through figures of children and toys, while my painting focuses on body image and identity.  In all of my work, pattern is an important element.  I incorporate patterns using underglaze, image transfers, and sgraffito techniques.  Most of the images I use are from pictures from my childhood.

I have participated in artist residencies and exhibitions in Canada, the United States and Europe and have received two Individual Project Grants from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. I have also been involved in research for the creative arts in human development.
